Gunsmoke Synthesis Essay -- Television Media TV Essays
Gunsmoke Synthesis Between the years 1952 to 1961, the series Gunsmoke was broadcasted across the nation. The show gave people insight into a past life of men who carried guns, fought for what was theirs, and showed that even the hardest people could be tamed. It was a time when the heroes of the old west started settling down, and in doing so they were either good guys like sheriffs, or they were bad guys that robbed people or places. From the stories of Gunsmoke the central character was a U.S. Marshall named Matt Dillon. He was calm, steady, and easy to talk with. In Gunsmoke we see a man that takes his job seriously, from helping those in need to catching the wanted. The thing about Matt Dillon that catches you is that even though he has a sidekick he does things by himself as if he was trying to make sure that no one else got hurt. For example in "Skid Row" when he went to get Mr. Hordbee, he told no one what he was up to. In the episode "Bloody Hands" Marshall Matt Dillon stopped the two men Mr. Showmen and Mr. Gourd from fighting after he had told Chester, his deputy...

Eddie Mabo Essay Essay
I strongly agree with this statement because of his actions and personality throughout the film. My interpretation of this sentence is that Eddie is strong passionate person but he also faces the side of reality, that is, no one is perfect, and this is true what Perkins does to help us relate to Eddie and feel sorry for him. Eddie Mabo represented somebody who wasn’t just going to sit back and take it. Eddie Mabo is tired of being a victim of the unequal rights. He’s perceived to be strong. He fought for what was his right and for his people. People full led of hate have perceived him as being a smart man who was going to ‘beat’ them at their own game. People who have racist views don’t necessarily cope very well with perceptions of strength. They need to perceive people as being weaker then them, less able than them, but in this case Eddie was too smart, and determined. All throughout his life, Eddie Mabo showed us many strengths. He had leadership skills, especially considering his lack of education. He knew how to get people to believe in what he was saying, and was an inspiration to all of them. He was one of the first indigenous Australians to stand up for land rights, and would not back down even when everything seemed to be against him, displaying his powerful determination and belief in himself as a person. He also shows great respect and love for the land and his culture, which is the main driving force behind his fight for land rights. Throughout his life, Eddie Mabo had many obstacles. The first of these was his banishment from Murray Island, as he had to fight for survival from a young age, fending for himself at the age of sixteen. This made growing up very difficult for him as well as the racism he suffered which made it hard for him to get work and shelter.

Polonium Facts - Elements Are Interesting
Polonium is a rare radioactive semi-metal or metalloid. The toxic element is believed to have caused the death of former intelligence agent, Alexander Litvinenko, in November 2006. Polonium is a radioactive element that occurs naturally in the environment at very low levels or can be produced in a nuclear reactor. PhysicalProperties of Polonium Polonium-210 emits alpha particles, which can damage or destroy genetic material inside of cells. Isotopes that emit alpha particles are toxic if they are ingested or inhaled because the alpha particles are very reactive, but polonium isnt absorbed through the skin, nor does the alpha radiation penetrate deeply. Polonium generally is considered toxic only if taken internally (breathing, eating, through an open wound). Marie and Pierre Curie discovered polonium in 1897. Marie Curie named polonium for her homeland, Poland. Polonium dissolves readily in dilute acids. Po-210 readily becomes airborne and is soluble enough to circulate through body tissues. Polonium is the only component of cigarette smoke to produce cancer in laboratory animals. The polonium in tobacco is absorbed from phosphate fertilizers. A lethal amount of ingested polonium is 0.03 microcuries, which is a particle weighing 6.8 x 10-12 g (very small). Pure polonium is a silvery-colored solid. Mixed or alloyed with beryllium, polonium can be used as a portable neutron source. Polonium is used as a neutron trigger for nuclear weapons, in making photographic plates, and to reduce static charges in industrial applications such as textile mills.
